Stage Acting Foundations: Voice, Body, and Presence
What you will work through
Course Structure
-
Week 1-2: Breath and Voice Placement
Diaphragmatic support, resonance mapping, projection without strain. 4 recorded exercises with written notes.
-
Week 3-4: Physical Presence and Stillness
Stage alignment, weight distribution, how to hold space without fidgeting. Partner work introduced in week 4.
-
Week 5-6: Intention and Action
Stanislavski-based objective work applied to 2-minute scenes. Each student works the same scene with 3 different intentions.
-
Week 7: Text and Subtext
Reading between the lines of dialogue. How what a character wants differs from what they say.
-
Week 8: Showcase and Review
Final performance of a prepared 3-minute scene. Recorded, reviewed, returned with detailed written notes.
Every session is recorded and available for 30 days after the course ends.
About this program
Most acting problems on stage come down to 3 things: inaudible voice, disconnected body, and lost intention under pressure.
This course addresses each one directly. Over 8 weeks, you work through breath support, resonance placement, physical grounding, and scene-level intention - the building blocks that hold a performance together when nerves hit. Sessions run twice a week, 90 minutes each, with written feedback after every practical exercise.
What the work actually looks like
Week 1 starts with a recorded baseline exercise. You watch it back at week 8. The difference between those 2 recordings is usually the clearest measure of progress - not grades, not instructor praise.
Alongside live sessions, you get access to a structured reference guide you can download manual-style as a printed workbook or read digitally. It covers 14 core techniques with diagrams and self-assessment checklists. Think of it as a download guide you return to between sessions, not a one-time read.
Who fits this course
Actors with fewer than 2 years of formal training. People who have done community theatre but never studied technique. Drama school applicants building audition readiness. The course is not designed for working professionals - there are better options at that level.
Class size is capped at 12. Instructor feedback is individual, not group-averaged. That matters at this stage of training.
Ready to start practicing
Spots fill on a rolling basis - once a cohort closes, the next opening may be weeks away. If the schedule fits, it's worth securing your place now rather than waiting.
